Income generating projects for older women

TAFU projects can generate income for an older woman to support herself and any family members who are dependent on her. It enables the purchase of essential items such as medicines, paraffin for night lighting, soap for washing clothes and salt. As well as increasing financial security the projects also keep older women physically and mentally active.

Older women can choose an income generating project to suit their capabilities and circumstances. For example, goats do not require a lot of land but the older woman needs enough strength to hold onto a goat. An older person who is a Muslim or has Muslim neighbours would not raise pigs.

TAFU provides the training and distributes the produce and materials to older women.
